In this compelling episode, we dive deep into the power of the past and how holding onto unresolved emotions can manifest in physical ailments such as autoimmune diseases, chronic pain, and muscle contracture. Through real-life examples, we explore how letting past traumas influence our present lives can hinder personal growth and health. Mark Puryear’s insightful quote, “The heart lives in the past, the mind in the present, and the eyes look to the future,” an Asatru saying, perfectly captures the struggle of balancing emotional healing. We emphasize the importance of taking control, making conscious changes, and leaving emotional baggage behind. The role of a shaman as a catalyst in the healing journey is highlighted, underscoring that true transformation comes from within – the shaman can guide but cannot make the changes for you.v

We begin with examining group and personal identity as Bryan describes what comes up, at of all places, a rock concert 7/10. From that we springboard into rock concerts or mass sporting events as a form of religious participation- makes more sense that you might thing, right off.. We also discuss how the anonymous person in the mass society sometimes tries to speak him/her self larger than they really are, how narcissistic posturing (‘a legend in his own mind’) is a poor substitute for the real personal distinction that is earned or won through intention + concerted effort + stamina. Finally, we explore the unofficial “law” of Scandinavian society, the Law of Jante- an interesting contrast to noisy pseudo-‘individualism’.

The traditional family was reflected in the extended family structures of Pagan Deities in many traditions, including ours in Scandinavian culture, very different from the sole dictator of Judaic Mythology. Speaking of family, how about the intergenerational learning that went with exposure to multiple generations? The benefit of hearing about life from the perspective of the parent of the other gender or siblings? The social learning and wisdom the child gained around the dinner table where he or she would learn what it was like to navigate life as an older or younger sibling or an adult- all were benefits of the nuclear family as the lens through which much learning flowed. The latest in crazy kulchur, it is now suspect to criticize over-processed foods, as if when you have limited budgets, you’re stuck with it. We examine that programming! We look at the power of entertainment media and its addictive spell, like that of social media, where Big Brother gets to decide which topic dominates discussions, or even which meme.

Then we contrast this with the character-forming socialization of an earlier generation and the ancient voices that speak to us down through time through the Seidr- the “Weavings” of Consciousness, as known by ancient Nordic and Baltic peoples.
